I am about to start trawling to see who is offering what for how much for a three (maybe four) bike policy as renewal is not very far away. Has anyone got any good news/bad news information, to help with the decision making on where to spend the £sd.    Cheers, UKR.

Having researched countless companies and used a good few for Wings, am now very happily with Ayre Valley who do a Wing specific policy, to which other bikes can be added. They may not be the cheapest, but they were the only company who, when reading through the small print, did full cover on a Wing. Every other company that I investigated would either not cover the value of the 1800 or had some clauses that made me less than happy with the level of cover. I wanted fully comprehensive cover for my trailer too and they were the only company that offered that. Some would do third party and many would not cover trailer at all.

Avoid Bennetts like the plague, I have heard nothing but bad reports of their underhand dealings, all technically legal, but leaving many many people feeling fleeced, including my son.

Ayre Valley cover all the add on accessories that we Wing riders like to add, some of which aren't cheap, so they get my vote. If you are a GWOCGB member their details can be found in every copy of Wingspan.

I've been with Carole Nash for donkeys years.  Not the cheapest ( but not bad, ) but with the insurance comes full UK and European breakdown cover.

I've found them pretty good over the phone too.  ( not being a call centre in Bombay ! )

Worth a try.     0800 988 0261

yep same thing

if you have a wing of lots of money with lots of chrome and trailer etc then aire valley do a comprehensive product exclusively desgined for the gold wing.

Carole Nash is good, but went away from them when the prices started to rise.

Bennets, sorry no way, they scammed me for £30 hding behind the small print,

Carol Nash seem to be pot luck, they didn't quote me happy, in fact they did make me laugh, but only at their insane quote which was twice what Ayre Valley charged and with less comprehensive cover. :tap

i have a theory, i think the inusrance companies look for a certain ammount of policies a month and give good prices when they are trying to get thier target, once achieved they then seem to give silly prices out, if they get the business fine, if not they are not that bothered

I've been with Aire Valley for many years and have had up to 3 bikes on the policy at any one time. As Silverfox says, they do cover everything and the policy is designed specifically for Wings. I feel secure I am fully covered for everything as a detailed inventory and images of add ons and modifications was required for the proposal.
I really like the personal service of a small company. You are treated as a friend and this alone to me is worth the extra the policy may cost.

Wouldn't touch Bennetts with a Barge Pole, not too happy about Carol Nash. Aire Valley on the other hand - not the cheapest, but give us the cover we need with bike, trike and expensive trailers. Also, when a friend took ill on the way to last year's meet n greet, it only took a phone call to cover me to ride his bike.

I think Insurance is an emotive point like choice of tyres, I have been with Bennents for 3 years now, what I have found is the onus is on you to ask for what you want from the company, making a phone call and expecting the cheapest quote will mean some thing goes out the window, this is were Arye valley seem to shine, as they do understand goldwing owners.

why did I use Bennents? well carol Nash was over twice as much, Arye Valley was almost 3 times more, so a pure economic choice.

Nick puts up a good point, my problem with bennets was that they use certain assumptions, one of them was no trailer use, not cover, use, this meant for a couple of times a year i would not have bene covered on the bike, i had no alternative to but to stop the policy before it began, i got a full refund of the policy, less £30 admin fee, considering the policy was for £130 that was a lot of admin fee, so like most insurance companies read the small print.

Any RBLR members will know the catalogue of disasters that are listed for Bennetts on the forums, one after the other, members coming on explaining how badly they were treated.

I was pushed towards them by the Honda dealer who sold me the 1800, but when I investigated the so called "cheap deal" that they appeared to be offering, it transpired that not only were they not able to offer the level of cover that I wanted, but I was told in a very offhand manner by a local rep for Bennetts that they would be able to cover me for everything. It wasn't untill I actually talked to their main office that I discovered that they couldn't cover me. I also got a copy of their policy details and I found it to be severely lacking in more ways than one, with some glaring disclaimers that didn't please me at all.

My son had "a great deal" with them and it was only when he needed to claim that he found out how terrible they were to deal with. They wanted a £40 admin fee and wanted to nearly double his premium when he made a total loss claim against another driver who knocked him off his motorbike. When he then told them that he couldn't afford their new premium, they tried to demand he paid the year's premium before they would release him from the contract. Strong words were had and they never got the money and he went with a much better deal with another company.

I am pleased that I haven't had cause to make a claim with Ayre Valley, but I feel sure that they would treat me better than the above.

i know when there was a lot of bikes damaged at the treffen one year, aire valley had their bikes repaired and back to thier owners while others where still waiting for months after.

The other thing that bennets does is they insist that you pay by direct debit and if you cancel it they are after you for the money.

Bennets is only a broker, they sell packages, they cannot cater for anything diferent like chrome goodies, agreed amounts, trailer cover etc

Bennets gave me a ridiculous quote, thought I was getting a quote to insure every bike in Wales, Carol Nash gave me a good quote the first time I insured with them but when renewal came it was treble the original (no claims either) very unhelpful when I queried it, went with E-Bike, cheap  but they are B&**er to get hold of as they are internet based and either e-mail or premium phone line at £1 a minute.
Still looking round so will probably get a quote from Aire Valley but won't need massive cover, also looking at Classic bike insurance. Interesting topic though.
