I beg to differ over Conti's.   They are not expensive and they are long lasting,  and for me and the several bikes I've constantly fitted them on,  they grip well.

Maybe it's like the Avon Roadrunners I used as a kid.   I used a lot of them and got to know them well.   Conti's are the same.   I've never had a problem in the dry,  and in the wet I trust them.

I even fitted one to the rear of my son's Gilera DNA 50 for him.  In the wet,  his friend who was riding an Aprillia RS50,  ( with factory fitted tyres )  fell off three times over winter,  but my son stayed upright.

I might not be an expert on most things,   but I know Conti's and they serve me well.

Kev

Everyone has their favourites, lets face it, the road conditions are prety poor to say the least you can hit something and the bike reacts but not the way you expect, if it does this a few times then you start to lose confidence in that tyre and move on.

I have only had stones on while having the 18, however i had quite a choice of tyres on the 15, i found most tyres did the job well and really did not have a favorite, what normally happened with the 15 was that normally when you needed a tyre they were so few and far between that you had to tka ehwat they had in, this happened a few times to me

The Pan sure has seen some work done on her over the last few years, but it continues to give Pete great pleasure, so I am sure he still thinks it worth it. :th

Just had 2 tyres put on my car, talking to the guy that owns the place and he said maxxis are well known for 4x4 and are a hard wearing tyre however he's not sure of bike tyre, but said they generally have good reviews, he has a sports bike himself but will only put avons because it is a soft compound, so your guess is as good as mind :hs

Been searching about for info on these Maxxis tyres, but it seems there is little available.

I just tried entering the size needed for the 1800 on the Maxxis web site and it doesn't allow me to enter the required size, so I believe that they don't do them for the 1800. They also show no stockists in the South East, within a 50 mile radius of here, so I am begining to think they are a no no at the moment.

The place I usually use for my Bridgestones are still charging the same as last time at £291 fitted and that is a ride in ride out service. They change the angled valves out too.

I paid £155 for the rear one the other week, that's everything though, removal of wheel, tyre replaced, valve, balanced and then put back on the bike. Fair enough I think.

You did well Crezz if that were for a Bridgestone, £171.00 for the same service from the only place locally that will do that, down here. Everywhere else, there is that sharp intake of breath when you mention that it is a Wing and they say "no, bring the wheel in and we can do it"

Of course I could take the bike to a Honda Stealership and REALLY have my pants pulled down!!!

SMD tyre's have been around along time here, they go to bike races and provide services there.

They do all vehicles, but they are specialists in bikes.

For removal of the wheel either front or rear they only charge £15 for 1800, £25 for 1500 and £10 for 1100 & 1200.
